The Volkswagen Type 2 T3 was the third generation of the Volkswagen Transporter and was sold under various different names throughout the world – including Transporter or Caravelle in Europe, Microbus in South Africa and Vanagon in North and South America. It was much more modern but larger, heavier, and more angular than its predecessor and was manufactured in Germany from 1979 until 1991.
